Object Stories: Gunta screen by Studiopepe

Part light, part room divider, Gunta Screen has the presence of a sculpture without the heaviness, and creates a gentle glow.

Designed by Milan-based duo Arianna Lelli Mami and Chiara Di Pinto from Studiopepe, Gunta screen is made of a cocoon resin material that is sprayed onto a metal structure.

Known for their fresh, original work, and for being female-led, the pair also have a deep respect for the classics of design history – Gunta is no doubt inspired by the iconic lights by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni that were made by spraying a similar material over wire metal shapes.

Gunta screen was launched at the 2022 Milan Furniture Fair and is part of an extended range of Tacchini designs that were recently showcased by Stylecraft in Sydney and in Melbourne during the first visit to Australia of Tacchini CEO and Art Director Giusi Tacchini.

In conversation with Dana Tomic-Hughes, Giusi Tacchini talked about her latest home collection ‘Life and Other Stories’: “Each project is the meeting point between experience and research, devotion and emotion, then enriched by passing time in the places where we live, where each of us interacts with our own experiences, in an ongoing relay between present and memory.”
