Review: New Greg Natale Flagship store

By Penny Craswell

Interior designer Greg Natale has made his name through bold yet elegant colours and geometries, gradually augmenting his interiors with ranges of his own designed objects, homewares, textiles and more. Now, for the first time, you can browse the entire collection at the new Greg Natale Flagship store in Sydney’s Potts Point.

The shop itself is also designed by Natale, with floors in his own Rubato tile made with Jurassic marble, teamed with pale grey wall and ceiling finishes and elegant high arches to a wall niche and doorway.

Custom-made visual merchandising tables and round plinths in the same Jurassic marble and in a grey fluted finish create sculptural stands for the display of goods on sale.

The exteriors of the corner store are in glossy black with shiny stainless steel shelving and trims, while curved glass embraces the corner of the Art Deco Gowrie Gate building.

Signage is elegant in gold on the shop facade and in black lettering on the wall to the side of the sales desk, with a sans serif font combined with all caps seeming to somehow manage bold and understated all at once.

There are decorative and functional objects on display, including boxes, bowls, vases, trays and sculptural shapes made from marble, brass and ceramic, as well as resin and shell. Textiles include towels, throws, cushions and bedding, many featuring the gorgeous Natale geometries.

Also available are art prints and sculptures from Dan Murphy (USA), and the licensed designs of Gio Ponti and Keith Haring in plates, bowls, dinnerware, coffee cups, tea sets and more.

The online store also ships worldwide offering additional rugs, tiles and carpets not seen in store.
